We have a number of different charging methods depending on the circumstances of the case and our client’s needs, providing flexibility and value. These are:-
1. Hourly rate.
2. Contingency.
3. Mixed approach.

1. Hourly rate

For most of our work we consider it appropriate that we charge hourly. Our rates are however extremely competitive in the market and are laid out below: -

Principal and senior consultant Solicitors at £220 to £350 per hour * (depending on complexity)

Consultant lawyers at £140-£250 per hour * (depending on complexity)

(*All rates are exclusive of VAT and subject to confirmation with the client before work commences)

Computer print outs of time recording are available on request.

2. Contingency

Clients, potentially having suffered loss, may be reluctant to throw “good money after bad” by incurring what may be substantial legal fees and consequently favour a contingency approach.

The problem with a pure contingency approach is that, frequently, lawyers will only want to accept larger claims in which success is virtually guaranteed even though other claims may have sufficient value to warrant their pursuit.

3. Mixed approach

Although we are happy to consider pursuing claims on either of the above bases, another option is a hybrid of the two whereby we are paid one half of our normal hourly rates in combination with a contingency element. Clearly, to reflect the reduced risk, the contingency would be less than if the charge was entirely contingent. Conversely, the reduced rate is sufficiently low as to make it uneconomic for the lawyer to pursue, without the success element.

We believe that this approach more fairly apportions the risk and rewards between our clients and us, with both parties sharing the desire to maximise recoveries and minimise costs.

This firm is happy to discuss contingency or mixed, as a charging method
